Textual Analysis

Goldfrapp - Happiness (Dir. Dougal Wilson).

This music video is a mixture of performance, concept and narrative. It follows a linear narrative start to finish with a happy conclusion. The concept behind it is that its a one shot video with the same guy continuously jumping and being happy. If you watch out for it you can tell that the video has three breaks in it so its not actually a one take video, but to be honest if your not looking for it, its pretty seamless. It follows Goodwin's six apart from Voyeurism.
It contains performance from Goldfrapp at the choruses where she appears further down the street each time, dressed in a different way. A very interesting and fun concept.

What I particularly like about this music video is the way the film is over-saturated to give it that "happy" aesthetic. This is defiantly another feature I would love to incorporate into my music video if I go for my most recent idea as the character goes from being in reality which is sad, to his happy place, under his bed which I want to be really colourful
